Privacy policy
CODEX is designed so that your documents never leave your device.
What we collect
Nothing. CODEX does not collect, transmit or sell personal data. The app
does not request the Android INTERNET permission, so it cannot send data anywhere.
What the app accesses, and why
- Camera — only while you are in the scanner, to capture document photos. Images are written to the app’s private storage on your device.
- Files you choose — through Android’s system file picker. CODEX keeps a private copy inside the app so edits do not touch your originals.
- Clipboard — only when you tap “Copy” on selected text.
Processing
Rendering, OCR, scanning, form filling and PDF editing all run locally using pdfium, PDFBox and Google ML Kit’s on-device text recognition. No document, image or recognised text is uploaded.
Purchases
CODEX Pro can be unlocked with a one-time purchase or a license key.
- If you buy through Google Play, Google processes the payment and the app receives a purchase confirmation. CODEX stores the entitlement locally.
- License keys contain the email address used at purchase. That email is stored only on your device to show which key is active and is not transmitted by the app.
- There are no accounts and no server, so there is no purchase history on our side beyond what the store provides to you.
Analytics, ads and tracking
None. There are no advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs, no crash-reporting SDKs and no tracking identifiers.
Children
CODEX is a general productivity tool intended for users aged 13 and over. It does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.
Data retention and deletion
All documents, annotations and settings live in the app’s private storage. Removing a document from the library deletes the app’s copy. Uninstalling the app removes everything. Because there is no account and no server, there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf.
Changes
If this policy changes, the effective date above will be updated and material changes will be noted in the app’s release notes.
